Calculating the emissions profile of your company can be a difficult task at the best of times. But what happens when multiple companies merged and each one has different methods for baselining and calculating emissions?

That’s the challenge that confronted Matt Calhoun when several oil and gas companies merged in November 2021 to create Civitas Resources - Colorado’s first carbon netural energy producer. Calhoun, who is Senior ESG Compliance Specialist at Civitas Resources, says that data existed in many different places and each company had a slightly different way of calculating emissions.

In this podcast, recorded at our recent Methane Mitigation Summit in Houston, Calhoun talks more about the journey Civitas has been on to improve the accuracy and comparability of data for better measurement and monitoring of emissions.
